Global Strategist Dr. Parag Khanna Presents Copy of Latest Book to Phl Ambassador to Singapore

18 July 2017 SINGAPORE — Leading global strategist and best-selling author Dr. Parag Khanna visited the Philippine Embassy in Singapore on Monday, July 10 where he presented to Ambassador Antonio A. Morales a copy of his book “Connectography: Mapping the Future of Global Civilization”. Dr. Khanna is a Senior Research Fellow in the Centre on Asia and Globalization at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore. He is also the Managing Partner of Hybrid Reality and Co-Founder & CEO of Factotum, a leading content branding agency. Also in photo are Atty. Angelo Jimenez, Member of the UP Board of Regents, and Mr. Antonio Ver, CEO of H&WB Asia Corp.

Regent Jimenez is President, and Mr. Ver is Founder, respectively, of Asia Pacific Basin.

Trustees, Officers for 2016-2017

With the recent announcement naming APBest Chairman Benjamin E. Diokno, PhD, as Secretary of Budget and Management under the new government of the Philippines, APBest’s Board of Trustees resolved on June 2, 2016 that Dr. Diokno be Chairman Emeritus. He was former Chairman and President of the Philippine National Oil Company in late President Corazon Aquino’s term, and was also Secretary of Budget and Management during the presidency of Joseph Estrada.

Former Philippines Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Lauro L. Baja, Jr. was former Chairman in the Philippines. Atty. Jorge V. Sarmiento was elected Chairman for 2016-2017, and former EVP Atty. Angelo A. Jimenez was elected President. Founder and Convenor, and immediate past President Antonio A. Ver stays in the Board of Trustees, and is Governor and Principal to the United Nations-ECOSOC where APBest holds a Special Consultative Status as of July 2014. Atty. Emil T. De Guzman was re-appointed Principal in New York.

Atty. Roberto Rafael V. Lucila and Atty. Ronald Dylan P. Concepcion were re-elected as General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary, respectively.

Former ILO’s Jaime M. Cortes, Chairman in the United States, convenes APBest’s Board of Trustees in San Francisco in July.

The full Board of Trustees includes Rogelio D. Garcia, Carlos L. Esguerra (New York), Salvador E. Tuy, Jr. (New York), Temario C. Rivera, Nelson A. Navarro, Albemar Dumlao (Santa Barbara, CA), Raul B. Villanueva, Ferdinand Silerio (Los Angeles, CA), and Dante Raul Q. Teodoro (New York). APBest was established in October 2008 in the Philippines.

 

UP College of Law to hold forum on West Philippine Sea dispute

The University of the Philippines College of Law is inviting the public to a forum entitled “The Rise of China and the US Asia Pivot: Implications for the Philippines, ASEAN, and the West Philippines Sea Dispute” on Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Malcolm Theater.

As its official media partner, InterAksyon.com will cover the discussion as part of its Online Site  event at UP Diliman on the same day.

Dr. Huang Jing of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore will be speaking at the forum. He heads the Center on Asia and Globalisation (CAG) at the same school.

CAG research fellow Chen Huaiyuan will also be speaking. He is an expert on China, specializing in culture, soft-power, international conflict resolution, and confidence-building measures through cultural exchanges.

Senator Francis Escudero, who is a member of the Senate Committees on Foreign Relations, and National  Defense and Security, is the lead convenor of the forum.

Energy and economic think-tank Asia Pacific Basin for Energy Strategies, Inc. is the sponsor of the event.
